Designed with wildflowers in mind.
It started out as a project for a charity art auction. It turned into the District Tartan of Sun Peaks, BC.
Marj Knive, is an Artisan Weaver in Sun Peaks. Having captured photos of the wildflowers on the mountain during the summer, she chose those colours to create a vivid tartan as a reminder of the summer season.
The overwhelming response to the design and the suggestion of registering the design with the Scottish Register of Tartans came as quite a surprise to Marj.
After receiving permission from the Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality to register the tartan as a “District” tartan, she received the certification in 2020 at the height of the Covid pandemic.
She was interviewed on CBC Radio about this good news story and it was featured on “As it Happens” the National CBC evening program featuring Canadian’s doing interesting things.
